] moreover Darcy would have been standing by his side.

The novel doesn't say whether Darcy & Bingley got off their horses or not -- P&P2 shows Bingley getting down to talk to Jane, and Darcy starting to dismount but stopping when he sees Wickham. Before I saw P&P2, I always assumed they both stayed on their horses, but I must admit that would make it harder for Jane to talk to Bingley.

Anyway, the way it happens in P&P2, I think it could be somewhat obvious to Bingley.
