Would Bingley & Caroline discuss the guest list?   Written by kathleen (elder) (1/18/2004 6:28 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, His faithful assistant ;-}, penned by Ann2
Are you new?

] Perhaps she has heard from her brother - don't think Darcy would inform her - that Wickham's coming to Meryton was unfortunate.

Darcy obviously said something to Bingley. Caroline tells Elizabeth:

though my brother thought he could not well avoid including him in his invitation to the officers, he was excessively glad to find that he had taken himself out of the way.

Bingley might have wanted to omit Wickham from the guest list to the ball, then discussed this with Caroline before sending invitations. Bingley would have had to give Caroline some reason, but he wouldn't elaborate -- of course, Darcy might not have told Bingley very much, either.
