These last couple of possibilities seem to be too creative and forward-thinking for Caroline Bingley. ;-) I don't give her that much credit.

I think her reason for speaking to Lizzy about Wickham is simple--to point out the inferiority of Elizabeth's favorite and rub a little salt in the wound she hopes to create.

I don't believe Caroline for a minute when she says the interferance is "kindly meant".
