Are you new?

In Chapter 6, we have this scene at Lucas Lodge: "Mr. Darcy stood near them in silent indignation at such a mode of passing the evening, to the exclusion of all conversation ..." Why has the proudly silent Darcy suddenly become interested in conversation? Do you think he misses a particular party's conversation -- perhaps Miss Not-Handsome-Enough-To-Tempt-Me?
