...the coarse laughter gives some reason for Miss Bingley's asking Mr. Darcy if they would be quite safe when they get out of the carriage to go into the assembly. Miss Bingley, the Hursts, and Mr. Darcy certainly seem disgusted by the ungenteel behavior. Maybe another good excuse to show that Darcy thought himself above his company (although perhaps he had good reason this time).
