The makers of P&P2 had to simplify things considerably for a modern audience. On the whole, I think they did a good job -- they used visual effects, such as clothes and houses, to convey the meaning. We can all see that Netherfield Park is more impressive than Longbourne, and that the Bingley sisters are more expensively dressed than the Bennet girls.
However, it would be unwise to take the adaptation as much of a guide to the complexities of social order in JA's period.
