You're right - Jane is sweet, but not as much fun to spend time with. In general, I think Jane is the kind of daughter any parent would be fond of, if they loved their children at all, because she is so easy to live with (plus she would make even the most negligent parent look good!).
On the other hand, I think she's the type who might get taken for granted - she's naturally self-effacing, you never have to worry about Jane, and I'd be surprised if either parent had ever even wondered what she personally wanted out of life, what her concerns were, etc. (Of course, the Bennets aren't the type to ask those kinds of questions anyway, but I bet it wouldn't occur to them that it might be important to her to marry for love, for example.) Their other daughters would be more likely to thrust themselves into their parents' notice.
