JA's language and charecters.   Written by Mandy N (1/14/2004 2:52 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, "...ate up with pride...", penned by Mary-L
Are you new?

JA was aware of language in relation to charecters. And with Mrs Bennet and Caroline Bingley she has a field day. Caroline remarks "I am astonished that my father should have left so small a collection of books.-What a delightful library you have at Pemberley Mr Darcy!" to imply in front of Lizzy the Bingleys are a genteel family of several generations. JA is skillful with her use of language to reveal her charecters...maybe not all at once, but aspects of them.
