Jane and the Bingley sisters   Written by Elizabeth S. (1/13/2004 3:56 p.m.)
Are you new?

In P&P2, the sisters are so much more obnoxious to Jane than they are in the book, IMO. The scene in which Jane is dining with Caroline and Louisa is disturbing. The sisters are treating Jane more than rudely; it is a wonder that Jane does not see it.

When she nearly collapses, all Caroline does is send a servant for help as though she could not care less that her 'friend' is ill--almost as though it is funny to her. It would almost make one wonder why they invited her.

In the book, there is much more of an indication that the sisters actually like Jane. We see that they are genuinely kind to her when they are with her and that even Elizabeth is impressed by their kindness to her.

The movie leaves out all scenes in which Jane appears with both the sisters and Elizabeth. Perhaps because there is not enough time in the movie to make the seem tolerable (esp. Caroline.)
