Independence vs. rush to judgement   Written by Kathi (2/23/2004 6:14 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Thats right...but, penned by Nasima
Are you new?

] I agree with you , though I have the impression that Lizzy's personality is too strong that I don't thing that Darcy's influence on her behaviors will last long, she is independent in her opinions, and girls like her are not changed easily.

I think that the depth of her self-examination and her ability to continue to examine her judgements (for example, her reaction to hearing Lydia refer to Mary King as an ugly, spotted thing) indicate that she has genuinely learned a lesson, and that she won't easily forget it.

I have no doubt she will continue to be independent in her opinions -- but that's a different issue. (And I think Darcy would be terribly disappointed in her if she didn't -- I think that was one of the reasons he fell in love with her.) However, she will be more careful not to base her judgements about people on superficial characteristics.

Well, we had our one instance of agreement, and now we're back to normal. Or does this count as a partial agreement? ;-)
