I was struck by this line in Mr. Collins' letter to Mr. Bennet in ch.57: He can write "I am truly rejoiced that my cousin Lydia's sad business has been so well hushed up, and am only concerned that their living together before the marriage took place should be so generally known". Who did his fair share to make sure Lydia's story would be generally known?
