...as my first option. But since Julie W tells me that she had to arrive before 10am that would mean Lady C would be ready to travel already at 6-7am. I found references in the L&T archive that said that Mr Darcy would have been able to travel at 10 mph going with post horses. We have a reference that it is 24 miles between London and Longbourn so that would take nearly three hours. Would she be up at such an early hour after spending three hours on the road the day before? I was thinking she found the news of her nephew marrying Miss Bennet alarming enough to set out at a late hour and impatient enough to insist on going on all night. Another thing weŽll never know. :)
