Lydia and Wickham do look extravagant in P&P2, but Wickham probably felt 'prosperous' all of a sudden after having his debts paid. I do feel bad for Jane and Elizabeth. Having relations with little money is one thing, but knowing this couple.. Very selfish, IMO.

The Bennets' carriage wasn't borrowed though. They had their own according to the tv series and the novel.
