I actually quite like how it was done in P&P2. They walk on together, "accidentally" bumping into each other several times! I can imagine the sensation of those brushes each with the other... it is subdued, yes, but it matches very well with how I read the scene in the novel. Suppressed passion and emotion - as opposed to being completely open. Elizabeth cannot even look at Mr. Darcy, remember. And that continues into the evening as well.
