Lydia and Wickham arriving at Longbourne   Written by Patricia M (2/17/2004 5:36 p.m.)
Are you new?

I really like this scene in P&P2 although I'm not sure this is how it is portrayed in the book. Lydia and Wickham arrive in what looks like a rather elegant, expensive hired carriage. Lydia is wrapped in her feathers and Wickham relaxed with a fancy walking cane. And then when they leave, they leave in the Bennett's borrowed not-so-fine carriage. You just know that they will always live beyond their means, trying to show off with possessions that they can't afford. No wonder Jane and Lizzy had to be applied to for living expenses.
