...For Darcy to blame himself for the elopement. He has already seen himself how the younger Bennet girls are allowed to run around with the officers. Perhaps he didn't fully realize how wild Lydia herself was. She's so foolish if she knew Wickham's reputation, she'd probably consider it 'romantic' and want to elope with him anyway.
