I think P&P1 handles this well. Darcy does take Lizzy's arm and they walk on together that way (of course, Jane and Bingley are not there in this version, so they are free to be expressive). Then as the scene fades, they stop and face each other, almost arm in arm, it looks like there will be a kiss momentarily... I think it was very romantic and tasteful.
