Another country Written by Line (2/16/2004 9:19 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, From what I make out,, penned by Mandy N

It's confusing, but when Wickham admits that he still has hopes of making his fortune in another "country", I think he means what we would call another "county" (no R) - another part of England, not another nation. (JA uses the word "country" for "county" more than once in P&P.) Also, IMO, the way he plans to make his fortune is to marry a rich woman, not to earn the money himself.
