That is the irony of the situation.

Bingley did propose to Jane at such an opportunity as was provided by Mrs. Bennet. The few days preceeding that, it was solely on his and Mrs. Bennet's contivance that he was invited to dine, and shoot at Longbourn so frequently. So, I believe, silly as she is, Bingley did utilize the opportunities provided by her.
