That certainly does make more sense Written by kathleen (elder) (1/11/2004 7:05 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Kitty asks Lizzy about the next ball,, penned by Linda

] R.W. Chapman has emended this passage to give this line to Mr. Bennet, for reasons Mr. Chpaman advances most persuasively "When is your next ball to be, Lizzy?" is given to Kitty by all editions. But why should Kitty ask what she must have known? And why should she call it 'your ball'?

] I noticed that AD gave that line to Mr. Bennet.

It would mean that Mr Bennet had singled out Lizzy for conversation twice at the beginning of that chapter, since he began the chapter telling her that he hoped Mr Bingley would like the hat she was trimming.
