they just wished to keep the servants, not from news of the elopement, but from hearing Mrs. Bennet's intricate, and repetitive ravings on the subject.

Indeed. it is mentioned in the text that,IIRC, Aunt Gardiner, Jane and Lizzy were happy that though Mrs. Bennet was confined to her room(troubling them), it was better than her walking around the house, ranting in front of all the servants.
