Yes they would.   Written by JulieW (2/12/2004 6:09 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Would they ever hire temporary help?, penned by kathleen (elder)
Are you new?

A house like Pemberly would be staffed with a permanat staff including servants like Mrs Reynolds,(but personal staff, maids valets etc )would travel with Darcy and Georgiana)

In times when a large house party of gueststs were invited to the house, the guests' servants would indeed travel with them, and make extra work for the household.

On these occasions the usual permanant staff would be supplemented by temporarty staff drawn from the surrounding estate and villages.

The "servant problem" was one that was well known at the time.If any of you can recall the Gentleman's Daughter group read , this subject was covered quite extensively in that book.
