Remember that Elizabeth had felt ashamed of her family's actions even before Mr. Darcy stated this as the reason for splitting up Jane and Bingly. It might have been vanity a bit, but my guess is it was more that she was having her concerns about her family's indecorum realized. It wasn't as far of a jump to make as it might have been had Elizabeth not felt this way about her family before.
