... when paries arrived at country residences; Ladies often brought their own maids and gentlemen their valets to do their hair and keep clothes in order.To cope with more horses in the stables, and more cooking, laundering cleaning temporary help was often hired from the local villages. And also when the house keeper organized an occasional clean out of the house.
