]I always wondered why Kitty would keep quiet about Lydia's plans - knowing that her sister's actions could be the ruination of the family's good name. I guess this is just further proof that Kitty was indeed almost as silly and reckless in reasoning as Lydia.

I would think that if I had a sister who was in love with Captain Carter one week and Mr. Denny the next, getting a letter about how in love she is with Mr. Wickham now might be exciting, but hardly newsworthy or anything to alarm my father about.
