...to that degree! Also the merchantile connections of the Bennet sisters are on their maternal side of the family. Mr Bennet's relations are on the land or in the church. In England a woman's station depended on her father's side and then her husband. Gasp! You don't suppose Louisa and Caroline have uncles in Cheapside -their brother wouldn't mind. He's a realist not a snob. Oh! But Caroline and Louisa may have relations called 'Bingley' engaged in trade. No wonder they determine to distance themselves from their trade basis. ;o)
