Compassion on Mr. Bennet   Written by Mandy N (1/11/2004 6:55 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mr. Bennet, penned by Malene S
Are you new?

] I always wondered why Mr. Bennet wasen't there. Why didn't he go with the rest of the family?

For Mr Bennet, with all the ladies of his family attending the ball to inspect the new novelty of Mr Bingley; this meant peace and quiet to enjoy his books for an entire evening without the possibility of his wife disturbing him... What I find puzzling is on their arrival home Mr. Bennet listens to their favourable impressions of Mr Bingley, "He had rather hoped that all his wife's views on the stranger would be disappointed". Doesn't that seem odd?
