Nothing definite on Denny's age   Written by kathleen (elder) (2/9/2004 7:08 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Denny's Age, penned by Captain Everett
Are you new?

But Denny brought Wickham back to Meryton with him from London. I gathered that they had been friends previously, and I assumed that Denny was probably closer to Wickham's age than 16 or 17. Wickham is presumably over 20 since he tells Elizabeth that the living promised him by Darcy's father "became vacant two years ago, exactly as I was of an age to hold it" -- would that age be 21? so Wickham would now be at least 23?

Anyway, it's interesting to think that Denny could actually be younger than Elizabeth. :-)

Thanks.
