She is clever   Written by Nasima (1/12/2004 12:37 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Did Mrs. Bennet understand?, penned by Kathi
Are you new?

]One subject of debate that often comes up on the P&P board is whether Mrs. Bennet understands when Mr. Bennet is teasing her and enters into the spirit of the teasing, or whether she is genuinely upset by his teasing. I don't see any conclusive evidence in this section, but there are a couple of suggestive passages.

Of coarse she understands, the evidence is what she told her husband after the ball, when she was angry from Darcy:

"I wish you had been there, my dear, to have given him one of your set downs. I quite detest the man."

] but I don't think she can hold two ideas in her head at the same time.

I think she can ,remember the schemes she planned for Jane to spend the night at the Bingley's, though she was cunning, but it shows that she is clever enough to hold two ideas in her head. Also her quik replys to Darcy in Nethrfeild
Mrs Bennet is a special kind of people who use their brain only for the things they want to accomplish. They concentrate on some matters and neglect the others.
