Of coarse she understands, the evidence is what she told her husband after the ball, when she was angry from Darcy: "I wish you had been there, my dear, to have given him one of your set downs. I quite detest the man." ] but I don't think she can hold two ideas in her head at the same time. I think she can ,remember the schemes she planned for Jane to spend the night at the Bingley's, though she was cunning, but it shows that she is clever enough to hold two ideas in her head.
