in consequence of the missive, Never, penned by Nasima
If this is only Lizzy's speculation, how does she know that "Not a syllable had ever reached [Miss Bingley] of Miss Darcy's meditated elopement"? Lizzy might have known that Darcy would have wanted to hide the fact from the world, even assumedthat he would have specifically wanted to keep the story from Miss Bingley. But she could not have known for certain that Darcy had succeeded from keeping even a syllable from reaching her. Therefore, this cannot be merely Lizzy's speculation.
] Believe me this is not the way people of high rank think.
Would you mind telling me the source of your information?
] The connections for the girl may be of more importance than the boy, and do you think that Darcy will leave his sister " his shy, sheltered sister" marry someone with five sisters ,who are probably have the same manners of Charoline?!!
Five sisters? What five sisters? And what makes you imagine that Caroline would not be perfectly nice to Georgiana? Or that Darcy found Caroline so terribly objectionable? The evidence we have now is that Darcy is a most concerned and loving brother, whose first concern would be his sister's happiness, even above a concern about connections.
] impossible I can't imagine that myself. He (Darcy), who "Whatever can give his sister any pleasure is sure to be done in a moment", will not expect to give his sister to anybody beneath his rank.
That assumes that Darcy believes that rank would give his sister greater happiness than a kind husband. Even before he changed, I think that Darcy would have recognized that, all else being equal, the latter would be more important to Georgiana's happiness than the latter.
