Lady Catherine's opinion of Fathers & Daughters   Written by kathleen (elder) (2/7/2004 10:20 a.m.)
Are you new?

In Chapter 37, Lady Catherine tells Elizabeth that, "Oh! your father of course may spare you, if your mother can. Daughters are never of so much consequence to a father."

I wonder if she is just talking to hear herself talk (always a distinct possibility with her Ladyship), or if she truly believes this to be the case. And if this is her opinion, what might it say about her relationship with her father and/or the relationship of Anne with Sir Lewis?
