Are you new?

...didn't female servants (like lady's maids) sometimes ride up front with the coachman, especially so they could keep an eye on the luggage? (I'm thinking of the equivalent in Gosford Park, where the young lady's maid sits in the front seat with the chauffeur, rather than in the back seat with her employer). What does that say about Lady Catherine's feelings about the two girls???
