(Moved from L+T)Miss Darcy's Drawings   Written by Deborah d@B'ajor (2/4/2004 5:43 a.m.)
Are you new?

During the visit to Pemberley, the Gardiners & Lizzy admire some drawings of Miss Darcy's in crayons. what are crayons in this context?? I'm imagining they're probably like coloured pencils??

Also, JA says that the subjects of Miss Darcy's drawings were more intelligible that some of the 'proper' paintings in the room. I think she's being ironic here, but didn't think artists at this period were into abstract - and it doesn't seem to fit with Darcy's character....! I don't know much about art, as you can probably tell, but I was wondering exactly what JA meant.
