Do you think he would send people away?   Written by kathleen (elder) (2/3/2004 2:51 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, A crowd, penned by Nasima
Are you new?

] May be, when Darcy knew that Lizzy is quite near and after inviting her, he might made apologies to those who are invited by him before except for the bingleys.

Visits were a big deal in those times, what with long travel times and servants and trunks of clothing. I cannot imagine that Darcy would have sent anybody home or told them they were no longer welcome to stay at Pemberley. IMO that would be very rude.

As for inviting Elizabeth -- in Chapter 43 (the end of this week's scheduled reading), Darcy has not invited Elizabeth even to call at Pemberley, and certainly not to stay there. He has merely asked if he could introduce Georgiana to her while she was staying in Lambton.
