Large party of friends   Written by Patricia M (2/3/2004 2:18 p.m.)
Are you new?

When Lizzy and the Gardiners are touring Pemberley, Mrs. Reynolds talks about the large party of friends who will accompany Mr. and Miss Darcy to their home the next day. But in reality, only Mr and Miss Bingley and Mr and Mrs Hurst are in this party. Does that mean that Mr Darcy seldom entertains and when he does, a party of four constitute a large party? Or was Darcy planning on inviting other people to join him at his home after this initial group was settled in?

If Mrs. Reynolds considers four guests as a large party, I wonder what she thought when all of the Bennetts and Gardiners descended upon Pemberley.
