Conversing pleasantly and courteously with others is a sign of good breeding, both then and now.

Mrs. Bennet's comments are so obtuse, opinionated and infuriating that it's easy to miss the fact that they often have a grain of truth to them. She's driving her family crazy, but Mr. Bingley did fall in love with one of her daughters, Jane did have to stay the night at Netherfield, and Darcy's behaviour so far has been rude and arrogant.
