Well, I won't say Caroline is always truthful   Written by kathleen (elder) (2/3/2004 5:25 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ah but..., penned by Tori Marie
Are you new?

But I always thought this was the truth. No other evidence from the text, that I remember. I know that Jane believed it, but that only speaks to Jane's trusting nature.

Hmmmm. Now I wonder even more about Darcy's place in the deception of Bingley. I do believe that Caroline received Jane's letter, so the co-conspirators (Caroline, Louisa, and Darcy) would know Jane was coming to London. If Bingley were staying at the Hursts, then Darcy might have to get Bingley out of the way every day during the hours for visiting, so that whenever Jane called, Bingley would not be there.

Either way, there was some behind-the-scenes work going on. :-)
