Yes, somewhere in The Making of Pride and Prejudice (I can't find it now, unfortunately), it talks about how they exaggerated the scenes that take place in Elizabeth's imagination. For instance, when she pictures her family's embarrassing behaviour while reading Darcy's letter, their behaviour in the "remembered" scenes is more extreme than it was in the "real" scenes that came earlier.
