Darcy's own words are: "... I condescended to adopt the measures of art so far as to conceal from him your sister's being in town."

I believe that he did more than just omit to mention Jane's presence. Concealing something is more active than passive, more commission than omission. I am not certain, since he never specifies what those measures of art were, but perhaps he kept Bingley away from the Hursts' house when on the day that Jane visited? And ... ?
