Darcy also noticed other occasions where Mr Bennet's 'eccentricities', as Lizzy describes them, suggest impropriety. Darcy would have seen Mr Bennet on relatively few occasions; Mr Bennet does not chaperone his daughters to the Meryton assembly, and he appears to be content to let the younger girls 'misbehave', for want of a better word, without checking them and simply being amused by their behaviour. Lizzy also recognised her father's less than perfect behaviour as a husband and his misguided talents. In social gatherings at Longbourne Mr Bennet also often disappears into his library when guests are invited - hardly flattering to company !! so his manners in social situations may often be less than perfect :) .
