possible reason   Written by Katie R (2/2/2004 5:48 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Definitely an element of protective caution, penned by Chandra S
Are you new?

I think Darcy was upset about 'losing' Lizzy's respect (even though she never had much for him). He is a man so used to being liked, it hurt him that someone who means so much to him thinks him a completely worthless man. He was desperate to get so respect and pride back - he couldn't stand it for her to think so ill of him.

Though he didn't write the letter in a calm state of mind, Darcy would never act so rashly as to tell such things to a person he did not completely trust. It was a great compliment to Lizzy; that he would tell her about it when those close to him were left out of the loop. He obviously has a high respect for her judgement.
