in consequence of the missive, Beginnings of regret?, penned by Mary Frances 2
While the seeds of regret for her refusual may be planted, Lizzy is too confused and weary to be aware of anything but the letter which has so altered her views on many people, including herself. I doubt she has room to feel regret. By the time she sees her Ladyship, I think it did give her a welcome source of amusement to contemplate Lady C's reaction if she had chosen 'to have been presented to her, as her future niece;' I think the passage shows Lizzy, while aware of the seriousness of Darcy's letter, is beginning to recover her humour.
