I think its part   Written by JulieW (2/1/2004 2:25 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I mostly think it was none of Darcy's business :-), penned by kathleen (elder)
Are you new?

and parcel of Darcy's "father/man of the house"role that he has taken on for himself.

He has been his sisters guardian for years, and responsible for the estate since his father's death.Bingley's parents are also dead, and I am sure the Darcy and Bingley relationship, desite the differnece in age ,goes back a long time, perhaps to public school.

I am sure Darcy assumes this protective attitude towards those he loves, not for egotistical motivs, but purely to "help " them.

I dont think he is being a "control freak", but rahter that this nprotectivness is all part of being a very older brother and a result of teh Wickham episode.

I agree he is wrong to assume too much, but frankly this characterisitic is one of his plus points, all things considered.

He just needs the company fo someone who can "lighten him up a little".........;-)
