... bothered me because IMO it's inaccurate. Even if neither of them said a word, I think it would be ingrained in Darcy to either raise his hat or bow, or both, and Elizabeth would instinctively curtsey! As you say, the way this scene was written, Darcy's behaviour is clearly rude, and Elizabeth's is hardly better!
