A little different   Written by Line (1/31/2004 1:51 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Far or close, penned by Johanna Elisabet
Are you new?

It's a little hard to follow, but Elizabeth says: "I am persuaded my friend would not call herself near her family *under* less than half the present distance", so I think Charlotte would not consider even 24 miles an "easy" distance, exactly.

This is speculation on my part, but even at this distance, I think Elizabeth (and probably Charlotte) would expect to stay at her destination for a few days at least, not just a day trip or an overnighter.

I'm sure that Lydia and Kitty would be overjoyed to visit London as often as possible, but who could they stay with except the Gardiners? (I'm not sure, but I don't think it would be acceptable for even a middle-aged married lady to stay at a hotel without male escort, and we know Mr. Bennet dislikes London.)
