Distances and time   Written by Johanna Elisabet (1/30/2004 3:54 a.m.)
Are you new?

Mr Darcy tells Elizabeth that fifty miles is an easy distance. With good roads it takes little more than half a day´s journey. When Elizabeth went to London with Sir William and Maria they started out early, travelled twenty-four miles, and arrived by noon at Gracechurch-street. These accounts of travelling don´t match up. Is it only a difference in the mode of travel available, Mr Darcy could afford better horses to travel with, or am I missing something?
