I think you are right and I think we are seeing another demonstration of the pragmatic attitude Lizzy takes to some (at least) of her potential suitors. She was able to bear Wickham's "defection" to the financially weighted charms of Mary King with the same reasonableness. She does not let herself dwell (as the unguarded Lydia would undoubtedly do) on unrealistic hopes and fantasies about these men and would rather talk herself into happiness than whip herself into a state of misery over them.
