Bingley had to leave Netherfield for London anyway, on business. What Darcy and the Bingley sisters did was to follow him there and persuade him not to go back to Netherfield. Also, presumably the deciding argument was not just "Stay here to please us", which is what Elizabeth praised him for in the original conversation, but something different!
