]IMHO, Lizzy was not making a joke here at all. JA does not indicate that she was at all amused by the fact the Anne was ill. She might have been amused by the fact that Darcy would be stuck with a "sickly and cross" wife. She hated Darcy and saw such a wife as a fair punishment for what he had done to Wickham and Jane. It's the same sort of thought that she has here (after reciving a letter from Jane in London):

Even though, she is describing her marriage to be a punishment to the husband, I think that is cruel.
