Are you new?

She admonishes Lizzy about running on in that wild manner when Lizzy is talking about how she enjoys studying human character, an intellectual amusement that Lizzy shares with her father but that seems to be beyond her mother (another example of intimidation?) I wonder if she was afraid that Lizzy comes off as being too intellegent in front of the gentlemen, since I believe that it was considered unfashionable for a girl to seem too intelligent. (Maybe Mrs. B. is afraid that she will intimidate them too?)
